Happy September!

Hey there, Stampers!

I’m back! We actually went to the beach for a short “treat”. It was fun to surprise the kids.

One huge bonus of having Linz and Zach both out of school and me working from home is that we can

actually pick up and go whenever we want. WOOT! Can’t wait to do that with our new grandbaby that’s coming in the spring. <3 div="">

I have some fun things to share with you today….

First… Here’s a card I made that uses a fun technique that’s actually an “oldie but a goodie”. It’s the tissue paper technique.

It’s quick and EASY and really packs a “WOW!” too.

(Card Stock Colors: Soft Suede card base, Cajun Craze middle layer, Whisper White

top layer. Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist.

Ribbon: NEW Tangelo Twist Cotton Ribbon and Linen Thread. Button: NEW Gold Basic

Metal Buttons) Stamp Set: “For All Things”

You simply grab some of that white tissue paper that’s in your closet with

all of your gift wrapping supplies….find your favorite stamp set and stamp directly on it….cut out a piece to fit over your card

stock for the focal point of your card. (I use Whisper White #100730). Now for the really fun part….

crumple up the stamped tissue into a ball. YES! That’s right. Then open it back up being careful NOT to smooth it out too much.

You want it to have those creases and texture. Then you will use a Stampin’ Glue Stick #130654 and adhere the tissue to the

card stock. VOILA! A gorgeous focal point for your project. See! I told you it was easy.

Color Inspiration Challenge – Wanna Play?

Happy Weekend!

We are absolutely chillin’ this weekend. It’s been a crazy last few weeks and I think we’ve earned some “R and R”. I’ll be stamping some and organizing too. That sounds relaxing to me.

I want to share a fun, new challenge with you. Sometimes I find myself stumped for ideas when I’m ready to create a new card or project. How do I get past it? Well, here’s a little known fact about me….I’m a “magazine fanatic/collector”. I could seriously spend a mint on magazines. Sure I love them for the articles and information….but I LOVE them for the gorgeous photos too. I’ve found a LOT of inspiration while flipping through a magazine while waiting in line at the grocery store. Hahaha

So….I want to challenge YOU. Here’s a photo I came across this week and it has inspired a few new projects in my studio. I think it’s just gorgeous. I love the colors, the theme and the overall
composition.

Here’s the challenge…..Are you ready??

1. Create a card or 3D item that comes from inspiration from this photo….It can be the colors (some or all), the theme or whatever your “take away” is from the photo.

2. Email me a photo of your project at shellsuit@verizon.net

3. I will have all of the projects here and will have my team pick a winner.

4. The deadline? All entries need to be received by next Saturday, September 6th.

What’s the prize?? Well….you’ll have to wait and see! It will be from the New Holiday Catalog! Wahoo! Speaking of which….Do YOU have a copy of the new Holiday Catalog? Happy Wednesday from Me and The Mouse

Hey there, Peeps!

Wow! It sure feels like late spring here in our little town today. There’s been a lovely breeze blowing all day and I’ve had my windows open….Not much like August in Virginia.

I’ve been working in the studio today designing Christmas cards. Yep! That’s right! I said, “Christmas”. The brand new Holiday Catalog is full of fun new stamps for fall, Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah, snow days and more. I’m working on some sneak peek projects for you that I’ll be sharing soon. The card I’m sharing today is one that I created first with the NEW “Kinda Eclectic” stamp set. I know that you know that I almost always have Disney on my brain so I’m sure it comes as little to no surprise. Well….let me show you the card and stamp set and you’ll see what I mean.

I’m sure not everyone looks at this beautiful, serene stamp set and thinks….DISNEY!!!

Here’s what inspired my card….

“Mickey’s Sun Wheel” at Disneyland – Anaheim, CA

You know me….I love “thinking outside the box”. Heck…sometimes I just bust the side off that sucker and head WAY outside the box. LOL

Anyway….that’s just a little peek inside how my brain worked for this one.

This card also has a couple of other “newbie” products too. First, the “Hearts and Stars” Decorative Masks…#133777

They are so adorable and versatile. They are only $2.95 for the set of two!! Woot!

There’s also a second set called “Dots and Stripes” #133775″ and they are $2.95 also.

The other new product I used is the punch I used to create those stinkin’ cute itty bitty stars.

They were made with one of the three little punches in the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack” #133787.

I have already gotten my money outta these little beauties. They will be well loved for a very long time in my studio.

Since it’s Hump Day and you might need a little more inspiration…I thought I’d share one more card before I sign off. It’s a totally different design using the same stamp set. Just shows you how versatile our stamps can be…

Alrighty…I’m off to get my run in before the evening gets away from me. I can’t remember if I told you or not….BUT….I’m training for my very first HALF MARATHON! YES! At Disney World (duh!) LOL It’s in November during Disney’s Wine and Dine Festival. I’ll be posting about it a lot I’m sure.

I’m back…..with Big News!

Hello, my friends,

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged. What a whirlwind it’s been. Let me start by saying that July 2014 is a month that I will ALWAYS remember as one of the best times of my life. I don’t say that lightly.

First, I was incredibly honored to be asked to be a presenter on the Main Stage at Stampin’ Up’s National Convention 2014. It was truly one of the BEST experiences of my life. I can’t begin to tell you how much fun I had living out my dream of sharing what I love with over 4,000 fellow demonstrators. I feel SO blessed. I loved every second of it. (Side Note: Unfortunately, the following day I ended up in the ER in Salt Lake City with a kidney stone. NOT fun.) I’m feeling tons better and was able to fly home as scheduled. It was a bummer to miss a lot of the fun activities on Friday and Friday night. I was able to attend closing session…even though it was through the haze of some really great medication. LOL I still wouldn’t trade that Convention experience for anything. God is SO good. I was thrilled to get a call from Stampin’ Up! letting me know that after the results of the survey after Convention ended were tallied, the Demonstrator Theatre that I was part of was the most popular event! WAHOOOO!!! How cool is THAT???

So….I got home from Utah and received the BEST NEWS EVER!! Brittany and Sam are expecting their first baby!!! YAY!!!!! I’m gonna be a Grandma!!! It’s still early yet so stay tuned for lots more updates as the months go by. (this bit of good news is the inspiration for today’s card I’m sharing…)

At the end of the week, we headed off for our family vacation at Walt Disney World. It was an awesome trip. It really was one of the most relaxing trips we’ve been on. I’m looking forward to going back in November but I’m definitely NOT ready yet for the reason we’ll be there….my FIRST Half Marathon! Yikes!! Gotta keep movin’!
