You are a fabulous “Work of Art”

Happy Monday, Friends!

I woke up to a grey, rainy morning and now I’m sitting in my studio with the window open and I can see blue sky, sunshine and white, puffy clouds.  WOOT!  I love spring!

Speaking of spring….I have the perfect “springy” card to share with you today.  I saw this technique and just knew I had to try it right away.  Check this out….

Doesn’t that just sing “SPRING!”?  It’s such a simple technique with a fun “Wow!” factor too.
Using the “Work of Art” stamp set and three colors of your choice, stamp the large “swoosh” image three times at an angle to one side or the other on a 5″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then, using the medium butterfly from the Butterflies Thinlits, cut the image using the Big Shot and your magnetic platform.  Then use the Big Shot Die Brush to easily pop all of the little bits and pieces out of the butterfly and set it aside.  Cut a second piece of Whisper White 5″ x 3 3/4″ and, using Stampin’ Dimensionals, layer the first piece on top.  Adhere the butterfly “body” into the negative space that it was originally cut from and, using your fingers, gently curve the wings up to add dimension.
I layered the entire piece on a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Bermuda Bay card stock that had the corners trimmed with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch.  Then that entire piece was adhered to the Daffodil Delight card base cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.  I stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay ink and added a line of Basic Rhinestones to give it some sass and Voila!  Spring has sprung!
If you haven’t gotten the Curvy Corner Trio Punch yet, today is the last day that it’s on Sale on the Weekly Deals.  You can get yours at my Online Store just by CLICKING HERE
Here are all of the supplies I used for today’s card.  They can all be found at the Online Store too.  No lines…No waiting….and you can even shop in your pjs!

“From My Head Tomatoes”??

“Love You From My Head Tomatoes”?

This card just cracks me up!  You just can’t beat a cute play on words.  I fell in love with the “Farmers Market” Designer Series Paper as soon as I laid eyes on it.  It just oozes “home”.  Have you seen all of the designs that are included?  Check these out…
The colors are just yummy and the designs are perfect for all sorts of projects…not just for cards.  Now, you may be looking at the sentiment on my card and wondering what stamp set it’s from.  The answer is….NONE of them.  That’s right.  I created it with one of my favorite products…the Alphabet Rotary Stamp.  You can see it on page 132 in the Annual Catalog.  I just “wheeled up” the words I wanted and stamped them in Archival Black Ink on Very Vanilla card stock and cut them out.  Cool!  Huh??

Well, Stampin’ Up also has a gorgeous stamp set that also coordinates perfectly with the Farmers Market DSP as well.  It’s called “Market Fresh”.  Here are the images that are included in that set…

You can find all of the supplies used on this card at the end of this post/email.  Simply click on the item(s) you need and you’ll be taken right to my Online Store at http://SuitablyStamped.stampinup.net.  Also, you can take advantage of the sweet “Weekly Deals” the same way.  Just click on the items you’d like and VOILA!….before you know it you’ll be choosing your FREE Sale A Bration items!

Happy New Week and Hello, Spring!

This is going to be BIG!!  Disney isn’t just MY vacation of choice….there are MANY, many people who have hundreds (or maybe thousands) of photos from both Disneyland and Walt Disney World just sitting in boxes, on their computers and even on their mobile devices.  It’s time to make the magic happen and preserve them so everyone can relive that magic for years to come.  If you haven’t heard of or tried Project Life by Stampin’ Up!, trust me….it’s QUICK and EASY.  Plus, all of the pages are designed for you and your kits will be ready to assemble!!  How awesome is THAT???
There’s punch art galore and even special “secret” compartments for

I will give you a little hint….This class will debut in May….that’s all I can say.
So….dig out those photos from Disney or go and have them printed.

Leena, Lacy and Belinda….

Hello, my friends!

Wait ’til you see what I’ve been up to!  First of all….I have exciting news!  I NOW have my very first stamp in my passport!  Yep….I traveled outside of the US for the very first time this past weekend and I went all the way to Canada…all alone!  HAHAHA!  I know…for those of you who are seasoned travelers this sounds pretty lame.  For me, though, it was a big deal.  I flew to Toronto, Canada to visit my amazing friend, Leena.  Ours is a friendship that came to be thanks to Stampin’ Up! and the Man Upstairs.  Wow!  What an incredible blessing she is in my life.  We spent most of our (very short) time together doing what we love to do….STAMPING!
We have had many FaceTime conversations making plans for some pretty exciting NEW projects and events that we will be announcing very soon.  We can’t WAIT to share them with all of you!!
One of the “magical” places she took me during my visit was the Lindt Chocolate Outlet.  WOWZA!!
It was AWESOME!  Now…one thing that we crafters and stampers tend to do is find everyday items to use in projects.  I knew at first glance when we walked into the Lindt outlet that we were going to have a very long list of fun projects to create with the pure deliciousness that greeted us there.
Here’s one of the sweet “inspirations” we first laid eyes on.  We knew immediately exactly what we wanted to create…..
How cute is THAT??  Check out those stinkin’ cute ladybug chocolates too!
Okay….so we gathered all of our inspiration….and maybe a few extras to sustain us while we worked…and headed back to Leena’s studio.
How many of you have stacks of these empty embellishment containers gathering dust in your craft space?
You know you just CAN’T throw them out because surely there’s the perfect project just waiting for you to use them.  THIS is that project!
Ok….so as the title says, this post is about “Leena, Lacy and Belinda”….I’ve told you about Leena so now let me introduce you to…..
“Belinda the Bee” and “Lacy the Ladybug”….
Aren’t they just stinkin’ cute??  We had SO much fun creating them and getting them just right.  We cut out the center section of the lids of the containers and added a window sheet so that the chocolates stay put.  The wings “fan out” and reveal the chocolate inside.  We lined the inside of the containers with cardstock circles and added a “rim” with cardstock to the lids.  The wings are attached with brads so they move!!  What “cutie patooties” would be complete without a touch of the sparkly “Wink of Stella” on their noses and cheeks.
We haven’t put together a tutorial for these girls yet but if you’re interested, just let us know.
I feel SO incredibly blessed to have such an awesome friend and I LOVE working with her.
You’re not going to want to miss what we have in store for you.
If you’re in Canada, (or anywhere in the world for that matter), check out her blog at http://alacards.blogspot.com/  She’s an incredible stamper and will inspire you.  Trust me!  Check out her awesomeness!
Wishing you a wonderful day ahead…
Stamped Blessings,
Michelle

“Sheldon” the Dinosaur and the Weekly Deals

“Sheldon” is in the house!

People often ask me how in the world I look at punched shapes and see the “critters” I create.  I honestly don’t have a good answer.  My weird, little brain just seems to break down whatever critter I’m making into shapes and then I pull out the punches I need to make it.  I know…that’s the “down and dirty” version but I don’t really have a better explanation.  It has absolutely become my greatest crafting joy and passion.  I LOVE IT!

“Sheldon” came about a little bit differently.  When the photo of the Weekly Deals (see below) popped up on my screen today and I saw the “Flower Medallion” punch (#137417) my hands just started itching to use it to create some sort of critter… My brain just screamed, “DINOSAUR”!!  Lol  Now, some of my punches get used daily and others…not as much.  The Flower Medallion falls into the “not as much” category.  Don’t get me wrong…I love the punch…it’s just not one I use all the time.  Well, this was it’s time!!  It didn’t disappoint.  Now, the Flower Medallion couldn’t do it alone so I pulled out some other “friends” from the punch cart to help out.  I could try and explain how all the parts and pieces all came together but I thought of a better (and WAY more fun!) way….

Now the EXCITING NEWS…..
As always, I’m going to have all of the supplies listed here for you BUT…..you can

“Simon” Says – NEW Punch Art Critter Joins the Family!

“Simon” the Stingray has joined the Suitably Punched Family

Happy Monday Everyone!
It has been a very busy week here in the studio and I am having a blast.  I’ve been playing with lots of new products and finding “lost” treasures along the way.  “Simon” is one of those treasures.

About a year and a half ago I was asked to share my love of punch art at Stampin’ Up’s annual Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.  It was truly the BEST experience EVER!  While I was creating fun, new “critters” to share on the Main Stage, I found I had come up with way too many to fit into the time allowed.  So….poor Simon ended up just floundering out there on his own until now.

Now…for those of you who aren’t sure exactly what the heck “punch art” is, it’s taking shapes made with punches (and framelits/thinlits) and creating something or, in this case, someone out of them.  It’s my passion!  I absolutely love the endless possibilities.
“Simon” was made using just ovals and circles…that’s it!  I decided to make him using the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and I think it just makes him come alive.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to add color.  The insides of his eyes and mouth are made using Basic Black cardstock.  Now, I stamped the coral in the background to look like silhouettes in the shadows in Archival Black Ink and then stamped the coral again with Versamark Ink in the foreground and heat embossed it using Tangerine Tango Embossing Powder (retired).  You could make the coral any color at all because this has such a whimsical feel.

I love the effect of the background.  That might need to be a video tutorial.  LOL  It was a blast to create and I have a lot of other project ideas floating around in my brain for it.

To see all of the products used on Simon’s card just check below.  Remember, you just need to click on the product and you’ll be taken right to my Online Store at www.SuitablyStamped.stampinup.net.  You can shop to your heart’s content.

I hope Simon brings a little sunshine into your day today and I hope you’ll give punch art a try very soon.

Wishing you a magical day,
Michelle

The Sky is the Limit

Happy Thursday, Friends!
It’s true…the sky IS the limit.  I knew when I saw this stamp set that I needed it.  It was even better that I could get it for free.  ðŸ™‚  When I first met my husband, Mike, 32 years ago (wow!) he was just a hunky junior at Virginia Tech majoring in Electrical Engineering and lo and behold he had his private pilot’s license.  Sounds exciting, right?  Yeah….he took me flying on our first date and it was definitely “eventful”…NOT it the way you might be thinking.  LOL  If I have time at some point I’ll have to tell you the whole story.  Let’s just say it included my door coming open when we were VERY high in the sky!  Yeah…great first date!  So….long story short…I love this stamp set because it reminds me of that date.  Here’s a peek at the whole stamp set….
WOOD MOUNT #141282    CLEAR MOUNT #141349
So fun, right??  It’s perfect for lots of different occasions and can be used for both feminine and (the dreaded) masculine cards.  Below are all of the supplies I used for this card design.  As always, you just have to click on the product(s) you’d like to order and it will be added to your shopping cart at my Online Store.  Now…this set is not available for purchase.  It’s only available FREE with a $50 purchase.  Here’s a link to check out the other items available for FREE.

I’ve been really busy with lots of family things recently and being back in the studio this weekend sure felt good.  I’ve also been gnawing on my fingernails in anticipation of our trip to Disney this coming week.  No….not just a “ho hum” trip to Disney…..  I’ll be running my second half marathon down there on Saturday.  I did it for the first time last year at Disney and it rained the entire time.  It was NOT fun but I finished and I REALLY want to finish it again this year.  Keep me in your thoughts and prayers, please (and cross your fingers and toes!).

Ok…I’m sharing a new project here today and you’re the first to see it.  Woot!  I don’t know if you’ve seen the awesome, new “Square Pillow Box” thinlits that are in the Holiday Catalog but my oh MY do I love them.  Let me show you what I came up with and then I’ll share all of the supplies I used.
Oh!  I made a “Double” box.  My awesome friend, Leena Girsa, in Canada has a fabulous video on making the doubles.  You can check it out HERE.

Isn’t it fun?!  I love finding fun holiday treats to use in “gift” projects for the holidays.  These stinkin’ cute hot chocolate packs and individual packets of mini marshmallows are from my local craft store.  Don’t you love how the snowman is peeking through the “window”?  So sweet!  The “single” square pillow box measures about 4″x4″ and this “double” measures about 4″x 8″.  They are both perfect for packaging up treats for the holidays (actually for any occasion).

Okie doke….Here’s your supply list.  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.  I’m here for you!  Remember, just click on the items you’d like to order and you’ll be taken right to your shopping cart at my Online Store at http://stampinsuitsme.stampinup.net

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead and a glorious fall.

Stamped Blessings,
Michelle
