“Tale as old as time…” Punch Art

Happy Snow Day! It’s a blustery, cold and snowy day here today and I LOVE it! No school and NO work. Wahoo! I spent the morning in the studio working on a new punch art project to share with you.

I hope you’re ready for a little more “magic”. After creating Cinderella’s dress last week my mind was just racing with new punch art ideas. I sat and sketched out a few but this one was definitely at the top of my “To Do” list.

Are you ready??

Here it is…

This is Belle’s gown…on a canvas! I am SO please with the way it turned out.

I added a little more dimension to the bottom of her dress by popping up folded pieces of the underskirt.

When I think about the relationship between Belle and Beast I think this stamp from the “Feel Goods” stamp set fits just perfectly. I added an “enchanted rose” under glass…and then….

I used the “Hearts A Flutter” Framilits to create the flag banners. They remind me of the ones they have hanging in the halls of the castle. I added to them by using stamps from the Collage Curios stamp set and to finish it off along with a clock charm from the “Tea Time Trinkets” collection in the Spring Catalog. (The Eiffel Tower-because they live in France…The Rose-for the Enchanted Rose…and the Clock-for the “Tale as old as time…” theme)

I will be posting a new Suitably Punched Tutorial very soon with the instructions on how to make Belle’s gown. I’m really excited about that!! I hope you are too. Please check back soon for all the details.

For now…I’m off to get things ready for a yummy dinner for tonight. I hope that wherever you are that you are warm and toasty and I hope you have a magical day.

“She believed she could…so she did”

Happy Saturday Peeps!

I’m beyond excited about this post and especially the card I’m sharing today. By now you know how much I love finding new ways to use and create with tools that may not have been “made” for a certain purpose like punches and framelits. Punch Art has turned into a passion for me and I love it SO much. I love looking at them and thinking outside the box (or punch as it were) to find new “life” in them. Whether it’s one of my “critters” or another fun design like on today’s card, it’s just so exciting for me when it all comes together.

Before I show it to you, though, I want to let you know about a fun, new adventure I’m starting here on my blog. It’s called “Suitably Punched”. Each week I will be creating with my favorite punch or framelit set of the week. I’ll be posting the project here on my blog and sharing it on the Suitably Stamped Facebook Page and Pinterest as well. Once it’s posted I will be offering a FREE Color Tutorial for the punch art when you purchase the punch/framelit of the week through me. Your tutorial will be emailed to you as a pdf attachment for you to use as your recreate the fun.

“Sunny Side of the Street” Sweet Note Tote

Hey there, Stampers,

Want a fun, sweet project that’s sure to bring smiles and sunshine?

I had an amazing time Saturday sharing this fun “Sweet Note Tote” with my Inkerbelle Stampin’ Team gals. We had such fun and shared lots of laughs and stampin’ time. They each got to create their own tote which included 4 beautiful monogrammed cards and 4 matching embossed envelopes. Everything fit perfectly into the tote and they left with a fun gift to give (or keep for themselves…hee hee hee)

Ears To You

Happy Friday, Peeps!

I don’t know about you…but I am SO ready for spring! I’m ready for sunshine…warm weather…birds singing…sleeping with the windows open…and, of course…Easter.

I really enjoy creating fun treats to share, decorations for the house and making decorations for our Easter dinner table.

The project I have to share with you today is so bright and cheery. It’s created with one of the brand new Single Stamps from Stampin’ Up!. It’s called “Ears To You”.

Here’s what I came up with…

I made a fun, little basket using Designer Series Paper and a few scraps of card stock. I love the basket designs using a square scallop bottom like this one. It’s so different and just really fun.

The matching card was created using the “Window Frames” Framelit Collection and the Big Shot.

I used my Stampin’ Markers to ink up the image in a rainbow of colors. Don’t they just “pop” off the page?

“By the Tide” – CASE

Ever heard the term “CASEing”?

It’s stands for “Copy And Share Everything”

CASEing is something you’ll find in paper crafting quite often. It’s an easy way to come up with a project quickly. Guess what?? There’s more than one way to CASE. Yes indeedy… You can copy exactly or you can take the general design, stamp set or maybe the color scheme and make something of your own.

**NOTE: Let me add a disclaimer here…I’ve CASEd and I’ve been CASEd and giving “credit” to the original artist is ALWAYS the right thing to do when at all possible**

I received a gorgeous card as a swap when I was at SU! Leadership and I knew I wanted to recreate it in some way or another.

First, I’ll show you the original card.

It was created by a very talented stamper by the name of Becky Morris. I love her work!

I love the colors….Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Very Vanilla

and Cajun Craze

So….here’s what I came up with…. It’s a “pocket” card made with a Very Vanilla envelope…

Start by sealing the envelope shut. Then you’ll cut off 1/4″ from the left side. This creates the pocket. Then I used the “By the Tide” stamp set to make a collage on the front of the envelope. The “Thanks So Much” greeting is from the “Oh, Hello” stamp set.


Then I used a piece of Very Vanilla to stamp the inside of the card, leaving room to write a message. It’s then layered on a slightly larger piece of Baja Breeze and then an even larger piece of Cajun Craze. An added 1 1/4″ circle makes the perfect “pull tab” for the top with a piece of Baker’s Twine.

So I hope this will inspire you to find something fun to CASE and stretch your imagination a little.

It’s really a fun way to create.

Chalkboard “Sunshine”

Do you ever just see a quote and it sparks a flood of memories? That’s exactly what happened when I saw the stamp that I used in today’s project. I have really enjoyed the “Single Stamps” that Stampin’ Up! released before Christmas and I’m even more in love with some of the newest ones released. You can see all of them by CLICKING HERE . Here’s the one that just made my heart “sing”…

I just love the “You Are My Sunshine” stamp. I thought it was a great choice to use with the “Chalkboard Technique”. The “Summer Smooches” Designer Series Paper made a perfectly cheerful background and I decided to use it to create a matching envelope too. Here’s a peek at the inside of the card…

It was so easy making the coordinating flowers using the 1/2″ and 1″ circle punches. I think this little ensemble is just a ray of sunshine.

Meet “Nellie” – My Sweet Valentine Punch Art Pup

Happy Valentine’s Day!

It’s been a wonderful day today. I’m happy, healthy and with the ones I love.

I wanted to post this earlier today but I had to wait until I’d handed out all of my valentines. LOL

Here’s the newest little lady in my Punch Art Critter family….

Her name is “Nellie”. She’s named after one of my favorite valentines of all time, my Nannie (my dad’s mom), Nellie Marie Carrington. I’m thinking that this little lady would really make her smile. It’s been a very long time since I’ve been able to pick up the phone and call her or see her smiling face.

I’m thinking of her today and feeling her love around me.
